Amber Hilsdon is quite an amazing lady! The pub worker from Romford had time on her hands and decided to make the most of it by undertaking a ten and a half hour walking marathon to raise money for her friend’s daughter.
Little Isla Caton desperately needs funding to get her to the USA for Neuroblastoma and Amber decided to do everything she could to help her get the funding for her life saving treatment.
She told the Havering Daily: “I had time on my hands and have got into fitness and lost two stone. I really enjoy walking so I decided to set myself this challenge and walk from Romford to St Pauls.”
Amber met Isla’s family through West Ham football club as they are both huge supporters of the club.
“We both follow West Ham and Isla’s mum has now become a friend of mine and I wanted to do something to help.”
Amber began her walking marathon at 8.45 am in Romford and completed her challenge at 7.15 pm, walking 62,000 steps in a day.
“My knees are feeling it now,” she said. “I would totally do it again to help raise more money for charity.
Well done Amber, you’re an amazing community hero!
