Collier Row man running 150 km for Great Ormond Street hospital.

Vinay Thakkar is a man who has set himself a mission and that is to run the 62 mile challenge and further, to raise money for Great Ormond Street hospital.

The Collier Row man is looking to raise as much money as he can after the witnessing the amazing job the nurses and doctors do at the London hospital.

Vinay told the Havering Daily: “My daughter was transferred there when she was born and I saw for myself first hand the unbelievable work they do there. The staff are amazing.”

Now, the local man decided to set himself the mission of not walking but running the 62 mile challenge over six weeks.

“I saw the opportunity to do a 62 mile walk challenge to raise money for GOSH and I did not hesitate and signed up immediately. Only instead of walking I have decided to run 150 kilometres by starting the challenge from now.

“My fitness journey started eight months ago and from there I have progressed each day to the stage I am now.”

The 36 year old from Collier Row is running from now throughout all of March Monday to Friday on the streets of Collier Row.

“The community has been fantastic and has started to come out and support me as I run through the streets. I have seen them waving and blowing me kisses which is really great. I really appreciate all the support.”

Vinay finished by saying: “This is for the children and we need to raise as awareness as we can to help and support children in this world.”

Well done Vinay!
