‘Please stay at home and celebrate within just your household’-Chief Inspector Weeden.
As the end of the year approaches, the Metropolitan Police are advising people to please celebrate at home and follow the Government guidelines.
Chief Inspector Kevin Weeden from East Area Command Unit told the Havering Daily:
“We understand people like to celebrate on New Years Eve and don’t wish to stop people celebrating but this year is different. We are in the middle of a pandemic and Covid infection rates are high. As much as we want people to enjoy themselves, I need to send a reminder that we are in a Tier 4 area and people must follow the Covid Regulations.
“Household mixing/gatherings are not permitted and I urge people not to have or attend gatherings such as parties indoors or outdoors and break the regulations. Extra officers will be out patrolling and will enforce the regulation breaches where applicable. Attending one of these gatherings is in breach of the regulations and as such people will be fined. Organisers can be fined £10,000 and officers where necessary will issue these fines.
“Please stay at home and celebrate within just your household.”
How do I contact Chief Inspector Weeden regarding a major local issue please?
