Man to appear in court today after taking Cross of church roof.
A man has been charged and will appear in court today following an incident at a church in Chadwell Heath, on Sunday afternoon 18 October.
Onlookers watched a man jump on to the Chadwell Heath Baptiste church roof and start removing the Cross from the church roof.
Officers immediately attended the location after reports that a cross had been removed from the church. A 19 year old male was arrested at the scene and has now been charged and remanded, and will appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court, today.
The male has been charged with religiously aggravated criminal damage . Police are conducting reassurance patrols in and around the local area and would ask anyone who has concerns to speak to officers. Otherwise you can speak to your local neighbourhoods team or dial 101.
