Why the Poppy is as important as ever-Andrew Rosindell MP.

This November will be my twentieth visit to the Coronation Gardens in Romford to lay a wreath and pay my respects to the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for King, Queen, country and Commonwealth in two world wars and in many other conflicts in both the last century and this. Remembering what they gave for our freedom is a humbling moment, reminding me that whatever trials and tribulations our great nation faces, we will always come through the other side.

We are once again at that time of year when the lapels of the great people of these islands are adorned with that solemn sign of remembrance, the Poppy. It brings me pride to walk around Romford and see my wonderful constituents proudly wearing one.

It was recently revealed that a third of Royal British Legion poppy sellers were forced to step down due to the pandemic. These amazing volunteers sell 40 million poppies every year, raising funds for excellent causes, and keeping the memory of our ancestors alive. They really need our help this year, because many are elderly and vulnerable to this awful disease.

Our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has called on us all to make our contribution to this year’s Poppy Appeal because “the need for it is greater than ever.”

That is why I urge all my constituents to visit the Poppy Appeal website where they can learn how to play their part. There are so many ways you can contribute to this important cause. They can fundraise, go on sponsored runs or walks, visit their poppy shop and even order poppies to distribute among friends and families. I hope that this year is as successful as any for this great cause and we must all pay our part in making sure that it is!

Paying his respects to the country’s fallen heroes.

Andrew Rosindell M.P.

Hopefully all our Havering MPs will honour the sacrifice of the fallen by voting against renewing the Coronavirus Bill on 30th Sept, which gave the government emergency powers to rule by decree with disastrous results.

Its time for MPs to TAKE BACK CONTROL from the Executive and restore parliamentary sovereignty and the freedoms so many died to defend.
