Gallows Corner flyover-Keith Prince AM.

Havering and Redbridge Conservative GLA Member Keith Prince today writes about the temporary flyover in Gallows Corner.

In case you missed her last two missives, let me fill you in. My Labour opponent at next year’s London Assembly election has chosen to weigh in on Gallows Corner. She believes that she is the missing piece of the puzzle.

She promises that she has a plan – as if no one has spent any time thinking about how to achieve the improvements Havering needs – but she doesn’t reveal what that plan is.

Typical of her and her Mayor blame everyone else you your failure!

The Mayor, whose responsibility Gallows Corner is, has offered a meagre £13 million. The Government, whose responsibility Gallows Corner is not, has been persuaded to contribute £50 million by the efforts of many residents as well as me, Andrew Rosindell, Julia Lopez and the Leader of Havering Council, Cllr Damian White.

Over the last four year’s Sadiq Khan has wasted our money as if it were water. We’ve seen massive (and massively costly) delays to Crossrail and a partial fares freeze that might help tourists, but does nothing for Londoners who use Travelcards or the Oyster cap. These have cost around £5 billion and £640 million respectively. Even before Coronavirus, the current Mayor had destroyed TfL’s finances.

Now, my opponent asks you to believe that this is a man who might finally fix Gallows Corner. Frankly, she’s insulting Havering by even trying to pretend that’s true. The reality is that real progress has been made over the last 4 years. The best chance of seeing that progress lead to a new flyover is to re-elect me and to elect Shaun Bailey, both of whom are local boys!

We need people who understand outer London not a zone one Mayor next May.
