Five lads run marathon to raise money for George Floyd and Black Lives Matter.
Five Havering boys are running a marathon to raise money for the George Floyd Memorial Fund and Black Lives Matter.
George, 16, Keane, 14, Ryan 13, Charlton 9 and Robson 2 years old from Harold Park, will be running the equivalent of a marathon on the 14th of June to help raise awareness of racism.
George told the Havering Daily: “I came up with the idea as I was inspired by the ongoing events we have seen on the television. It is to help raise awareness of racism.”
“Lots of our friends are supporting us,” said Keane. “We see casual racism every day and it is this type of behaviour in society that is fuelling racism.”
“Family and friends and the community have been great and have really supported us,” continued George.
The lads will be running at Hensons Sports Ground in Harold Park on June 14th. 16 year old George will be running around 17 miles of the marathon as the eldest, whilst the others will run relays to make up the extra miles.
