‘Do not defend the indefensible’-Peter Wheelband.
Romford Labour’s Peter Wheelband has shared his response to the current political situation involving Dominic Cummings.
On Sunday evening our Prime Minister stood before the nation and took us all for fools. In attempting to defend the actions of Dominic Cummings he threw away any credibility his government may have had.
The response has predictably been swift and damning.Doctors and nurses have threatened to resign , religious leaders have queued up to condemn Johnson’s defence of the indefensible and members of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) have indicated that this gross error of judgement has “fatally undermined efforts to fight coronavirus”
Yesterday we were treated to the unprecedented situation of Mr Cummings (An unelected Government Advisor ) holding a press conference in the garden of 10 Downing Street. He gave us no apology for his actions and compounded matters by asking us to believe he had driven 30 miles to a local tourist attraction with his wife and child in order to test his eyesight. Again we were taken for fools, but this time it was a case of the tail wagging the dog. Perhaps his next slogan will be “Stay Elite, Do what you want, Deny everything”.
In times of crisis we require our leaders to lead. I therefore implore our Member of Parliament and our Leader of the Council to stand up for the people of Romford and Havering . You are the elected leaders of our communities and we require you to step up to the plate and be our voices. Party loyalty can not be placed ahead of the interests of constituents. We have all made tremendous sacrifices during the lockdown period , only to see those sacrifices thrown in our faces by someone who considers himself beyond reproach. Follow the example of numerous fellow Conservative Party MP’s and Council Leaders in demanding the sacking of Mr Cummings.
Our MP Mr Rosindell usually delights in proclaiming himself the voice of Romford. Over this Bank Holiday weekend though he appears to be a little hoarse. It is his duty to express the views of 1000’s of residents who are furious at the “One rule for us , one rule for them” stance of the government. His current silence is a dereliction of duty and simply not acceptable.
Peter Wheelband.
Don’t forget Mr Rosindell voted against a pay rise for the nhs nurses. And voted for having our food standards to be below standard. Also is pro fox hunting.
