Havering AC Update


Kate O’Neill rounded off her cross country season in style with a bronze medal for Essex in the Under 20 Women’s event CAU Inter Counties event at Loughborough on Saturday. Kate had made a late decision to run after resting a minor knee injury and she was rewarded with another top three finish to add to her British Universities bronze. Sophia Rand registered her highest finish in a national event in 61st as the fourth-placed Essex squad just missed out on team medals placing fourth  Morgan Campbell was 87th for Essex in the senior women’s event on her Inter Counties debut, and Rob Warner’s consistent form saw him place 106th in the senior men’s race, his highest placing for a couple of years.

In the younger age groups Hannah and Charlotte Evans were 137th & 145th for the Essex Under 13 Girls and Ryan Carroll (152nd) and Oliver Taylor-Bush (183rd) were in the third placed Essex squad. Chloe Rand was 109th in the Under15 Girls event and Matthew Blacklock was 239th in the Under 15 Boys competition.

This weekend sees the final events of the cross country season as club athletes will be competing for the Essex Schools team in the English Schools Championships at Sefton Park, Liverpool.

On Sunday senior teams will be in action at the Essex Road Relays at Colchester, and the hosts are also arranging some young athletes relays, which the club will be represented in.  The club will also have competitors in the Brentwood Half Marathon & Fun Run events.

Stephanie Okoro returns to the Sheffield venue which saw her win England Athletics Indoor 300m gold aiming to add a pentathlon medal to her honours as she contests the England Athletics Indoor Combined Events championships at the weekend.  The Romford 13 year old won the South of England indoor title in the event in December and will start as a strong challenger for another podium place.
