VIDEO: Commonwealth Day celebrated in Havering.
On March 9th Havering celebrated Commonwealth Day. A special flag-raising ceremony was held at Romford town hall where messages were read out from HRH Her Majesty the Queen and the Commonwealth Secretary.
Havering Mayor’s Mayor Councillor Michael Deon Burton read the special message from HRH Her Majesty the Queen and Romford MP Andrew Rosindell read out the special message from the Commonwealth Secretary Patricia Scotland QC.
Local school children from Parklands Junior were also present alongside Havering’s Leader of the Council Councillor Damian White, Police Superintendent Mark Long and the borough’s Deputy Lieutenant Mark Bryant.


Felicia Boroshin and Sharon Shirley from Havering BAME told the Havering Daily: “We are very pleased to be here and we have a special event this Saturday 14th of March at the market place in Romford to celebrate cultural diversity and the commonwealth.
“There will be lots of activities available for the whole family so please come along and celebrate Commonwealth day with us.”
