Romford actor wins Bafta award.


Romford boy Michael Ward has made the borough proud by winning the EE Rising Star award at last night’s Baftas.

Jamaican born but grew up in Romford, Michael Ward was seen speechless and proudly clutching his shiny award last night at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Top Boy star also found fame in Blue Story, the Youtubeer Rapman’s series about two young friends who become rivals in a street war.

Also present at the Baftas were Hollywood legends Robert De Niro and Al Pacino who have both starred in The Irishman that failed to pick up any awards last night.

Film of the night was the epic first world war film 1917, that scooped up an incredible seven awards including best director for Sam Mendes who also co-wrote it from the recollections of his grandfather.
