This weekend we had 60 members running at five different park runs, with Peter Burdett (22:02), Thomas Manning (39:00), Darren Radford (24:41) and Joanne Reeves (20:26) all beating their course personal bests. Brian Fry celebrated completing his 100th park run at Harrow Lodge Park by dressing up as a “Robber” with lots of other Joggers dressed as “Coppers” chasing him around the 5k park run.
This year Havering ‘90 Joggers are celebrating their 30th anniversary. Havering’90 Joggers was formed in 1990 by a small group of runners meeting in the foyer of Harrow Lodge Sports Centre for a run each week. The club has gone from strength to strength and is now located at Abbs Cross Sports Centre with a memberships in the order of 240. The club and its members have raised many thousands of pounds for charities including the likes of St France’s Hospice and First Steps.
In 2007 the club started its Learn to Run course where members of the public can learn to run from zero up to 5km without having to join the club. This is still running successfully today with members being trainer to teach others to run, as well as having a coaching team to help all members improve their running techniques.
