Protests were held last night outside the town hall in Romford, with banners and megaphones used to make their voices heard.

Several groups of protesters were present before the monthly full council to protest about village greens and parking charges.

Protesters from village greens, local parks, and the parking opposition group gathered outside of the town hall just before 7 pm last night.

Barry Major, a local business owner from Upminster told the Havering Daily:

I’m here for the parking and the fact that Upminster and Hornchurch had the 30 minutes removed and to complain about the bad decisions such as the ‘Pitch and Putt’ and other places in Havering that are going to be taken over through buildings.

At the full council meeting, the decision to not bring back the 30 minutes parking was approved by councillors.

A silent protest was also held both inside and outside of the council chambers by protesters.
