On Saturday 21 of December Hornchurch’s first micro pub officially opened.
The Havering Daily visited the pub for the first time and was thoroughly impressed!
The pub is a perfect cozy size that allows for drinks with friends and family. There are no screens and loud music that stops you from having a proper conversation instead there is excellent beer straight from the barrel and all the conversation you might want.
The pub was packed with queues of people waiting to go in. It has a great friendly feeling and people of all ages were present to sample the excellent beers, wines and spirits available.
Co owner Alison Taffs told the Havering Daily:
“We opened on Saturday 21st and had a brilliant and busy opening day, lots of guests from Hornchurch and many of our close neighbours came to join us.
“The local CAMRA group popped in to sample the beers and show support and were very kind and positive about the beer and the micro pub surroundings.
“Saturday was very busy all day and evening, and we are looking forward to welcoming people back into 2020 for drinks, as well as for our planned tasting events.
“The responses and support over the build and opening from locals has been amazing, so many people have been popping in and following us on Social Media. As a small local business, we really appreciate the good wishes and interest from everyone.
“Phil and I are really pleased with the way the space has turned out; it’s small, but we think it’s really cosy, and one of our guests said, “it’s a bit like sitting in your own living room, with a big range of good drinks”
“The Micropub movement is all about quality fresh beer, and we are leading with our cask ales, providing some exciting draft and fine bottled ciders, as well as craft beers and a range of wines and spirits to compliment them.
“We have over 35 gins on our menu and we will be running gin tastings for people and setting up a whisky club in the new year. My background is as a drinks educator, so looking forward to sharing my passion for all things delicious and drinkable with local people.
