VIDEO: Boxing event in aid of Jodie Chesney Foundation.

Members of Take a Knife Save a Life all gathered at the Prince Regent Hotel on Saturday 7th of December to support the charity founder Stephen Gowers in a boxing match.

The event was organised by Kevin and Kelly Greenwood of Greenwood’s Boxing Gym in Ardleigh Green, with all the auction and raffle proceeds raised going to the Jodie Chesney Foundation and the Take A Knife Save A Life group.

Peter Chesney, Jodie’s father was at the event in Chigwell on Saturday night to support Steve in his fight.

The fight lasted three rounds with Steve winning 29 points to 28.

Steve told the Havering Daily:

“It was a tough fight. They changed my opponent at the last minute and he was really good.

“I enjoyed the fight but I had to watch my energy levels throughout the fight.

“I feel good but once the fight is over I always criticise myself after and see what I can do next time to improve.

“I’d like to thank everyone who came and supported me and a particular mention to Peter Chesney and Kevin and Kelly Greenwood who organised it all.

Steve will now start training again in January in preparation for a heavyweight title fight in March in Romford. He is currently looking for sponsors to sponsor him in his title fight.
