Kate O’Neill was a fine 11th in the Under 20 event at UK Cross Challenge event at Liverpool, which also served as the selection trial for the GB team for the European Cross Country Championships in Lisbon on 8th December. 

It was a good result for the 18 Year old Birmingham University athlete who was 24th last year and has another chance in 2020 in her final year in the Under 20 age group.  Sam Atkins (St Mary’s University) was the other club athlete in action, placing 101st in the U20 Men’s event.

Club action resumes this weekend as Writtle College hosts the first day of the Essex Cross Country Championships on Saturday with the Under 13s and Under 15s, plus the Veteran club teams chasing individual and team county medals.

Also on Saturday Jacob Blanc gets his first taste of International action as he represents the English Schools team competing in the Home Countries Indoor Pentathlon competition at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena.  The Romford 15-year-old earned selection after finishing third at the English Schools Pentathlon Championships, to cap a fine year which saw him win three other national medals.
