Hundreds of spectators lined Romford market this evening as the annual Christmas lights switch on took place.

On a cold and wintry night, many filled the square with eager children awaiting to see the show and their favourite stars.

And they weren’t disappointed as characters from stage and screen appeared on the stage.

Hosted by Time fm, the borough’s Mayor Councillor Michael Deon Burton joined stars from S Club 3 and Charlie Dillion from The Voice Kids alongside performers from the Queen’s Theatre’s latest pantomime Robin Hood and music from The Greatest Showman and Vocal Jukebox.

The lights were officially switched on by the Mayor with a huge roar from the crowd.
