The Royal Air Force Association Romford Branch held its annual open day on Sunday 25th of August.

Local residents and members came out to join in the festivities that included live music throughout the day and a mouth watering barbecue.

Committee member Geoff Clements told the Havering Daily, ‘Today is all about promoting the awareness of the club and the facilities it provides the community.

We are very active in the local community representing the RAF who have had a presence in Romford since 1952 and are now looking for new members to come along and join us.’

Present at the open day was the Romford MP Andrew Rosindell, an active supporter of the RAF and the armed forces. He told the Havering Daily ‘It’s a fantastic day here, open for the community and it’s a great club here in the heart of Romford.

I have been coming to this club for many years, my father was in the Royal Air Force and he got me to join the club. It is a really friendly place with a very happy atmosphere and also honours our brave men and women in the Royal Air Force.
