Growing Crowds of Masked Youths Spark Concern on Hornchurch High Street.
Hornchurch shoppers have raised concerns after a growing number of youths have been seen gathering outside shops on the High Street wearing masks. Everyday, after school and college, youths gather near the bus stops and outside the shops in large crowds.
Locals say they often adjust their shopping schedules to avoid the crowds and the buses where large groups of youths congregate. Many describe feeling unsafe at these times, highlighting the impact on everyday life in the town centre.
Police officers are working hard to manage the situation, but resources are limited. With staffing levels lower than in previous years, officers are deployed strategically to key locations rather than being able to patrol the area constantly. Posting one or two officers against groups of 20 or more makes managing large gatherings a significant challenge.
The rise of face masks among youths has added a new dimension to the problem, with many using them as a fashion statement. While officers continue to engage with the community and respond where necessary, the scale of the gatherings makes enforcement difficult and raises questions about how to keep Hornchurch High Street safe for shoppers.
So, what next for Hornchurch and how do we manage this situation everyday?

Makes a change from the masked people who were hanging flags on the lampposts a few months ago and vandalising the roundabouts with paint, I guess.
Stupid Gov., should ban balaclavas and face coverings and should be made to remove them it’s intimating to older people
