BREAKING: Local Hero From Chigwell Windows Saves Havering’s St George’s Day Parades With Incredible £9K Donation!
The possible cancellation of two St George’s Day parades in Havering sparked concern across the community this week. But in an extraordinary show of local support, a Collier Row businessman has stepped in to fund the entire amount needed to keep the much loved events alive.
After news emerged that the parades could be cancelled due to a £9,000 shortfall, Havering Conservatives launched a Just Giving campaign in a bid to raise the funds needed to ensure the celebrations could still take place.
Now, Dean from Chigwell Windows in Collier Row has stepped forward and pledged the full £9,000 himself, ensuring that the community celebrations can go ahead.
Speaking to the Havering Daily, Dean explained why he felt compelled to act.
“I read what was possibly happening about the cancellation of the St George’s Day parade and was really disgusted by it. So we chose to jump in and donate the money to keep the parade going.
“We support the community as much as we can as a local business. It’s great to help the community and give back to them. This is a patriotic day where children parade and that needs to keep going each year.
“We are very patriotic here and have our flags flying and support Andrew, our local MP. This is a great way to help and unite our community.”
The generous gesture has been widely praised by residents who say the parades are an important tradition that brings families, children and the wider community together each year.
Chigwell Windows are well known locally for supporting a wide range of community events and initiatives throughout the year, regularly stepping in to help local causes.
Dean’s latest act of generosity has now ensured that the St George’s Day celebrations can continue, keeping a proud community tradition alive for the next generation.
Many residents have already described him as a true local hero for stepping in when the community needed support the most.
One thing is certain. Thanks to Dean’s remarkable generosity, Havering’s St George’s Day parades look set to march on after all.
Councillor Michael White-Leader of Havering Conservatives told the Havering Daily: “We have stepped in and taken action immediately as a party and have shown that when problems come our way, we find ways to resolve them.
“Our Just Giving page had already raised funds to help and then Dean stepped in to save the day. We are very thankful to everyone who has donated.”
Councillor Nisha Patel told the Havering Daily: “A huge thank you to Chigwell Windows for their incredibly generous donation of £9,000 towards the costs of this year’s St George’s Day Parade.
After Havering Conservatives reached out to them for support, Chigwell Windows stepped forward once again to help our community. Their generosity will play a vital role in ensuring this fantastic local event can take place and be enjoyed by families and residents of all ages.
Events like the St George’s Day Parade bring people together, celebrate our traditions, and strengthen the spirit of our community. This simply would not be possible without the backing of supportive local businesses.
Chigwell Windows have supported community projects for many years, and we are extremely grateful for their continued commitment to local causes.
Thank you for helping keep our community spirit strong and for supporting such an important local tradition.”
