Jasper here. How are we in March already!? The football did not disappoint this week.

Thanks for all of last week’s comments. It was great to hear your views.

National League South

On Saturday, Hornchurch pulled off an amazing win at home against second placed Worthing. The Urchins leapfrogged Worthing and at that point were eight points behind first place Dorking Wanderers, with a game in hand. There was also a debut goal for D. Poleon, who joined Hornchurch this week from Farnborough.

On Tuesday, the gap was cut to five points as Hornchurch remained second with a 1-0 victory over Salisbury at The Bridge.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, famous YouTuber KSI joined their Hornchurch rivals, Dagenham & Redbridge. The Sidemen member has invested in his first ever club. The claim from KSI is that they are aiming for promotion, but being 11 places below Hornchurch is not a good look.

It seems like Dagenham are getting more popular by the day. They signed ex Newcastle and West Ham striker Andy Carroll in the summer, and having KSI involved will bring in some cha-ching.

Premier League

Friday Match

Rob Edwards showing the passion. What a result. Wolves with a 2-0 win over local rivals Aston Villa. Wolves now have 13 points, which surpasses the previous lowest Premier League points tally held by Derby County and beats Southampton’s 12 points from last season.

Saturday Matches

At the Vitality Stadium, the score was Bournemouth 1-1 Sunderland. The last time this fixture was played earlier this season, Sunderland won 3-2.

At Turf Moor we saw Burnley 3-4 Brentford. Where do I start? Let’s talk about the late winner by Brentford’s Damsgaard, a 93rd minute goal which should have been the headline, yet it was not the craziest thing to happen. Burnley’s Ashley Barnes scored in the 98th minute, a late equaliser which was ruled out for a harsh handball decision. This was the second goal to be disallowed for Burnley, a dagger in the fans’ hearts.

On Merseyside, the Hammers got hammered. The score being Liverpool 5-2 West Ham. New signing Disasi scored an own goal.

A disappointing result for Newcastle at St James’ Park, but not for Everton. The final score was Newcastle 2-3 Everton. The Toffees are pushing their way up the table.

In the Saturday Night Football match, Semenyo bagged another for Manchester City. I look like a genius after naming him as the number one signing in the league in last week’s article. Final score was Leeds United 0-1 Manchester City.

Sunday Matches

Danny Welbeck scores again for Brighton. Will he get the England call-up? Brighton 2-1 Nottingham Forest.

Another Spurs defeat and relegation worries linger. Fulham 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur. Fulham’s Harry Wilson continues his good form, contributing a goal and an assist.

Crystal Palace gained zero points, unlike Oliver Glasner on his driving licence following being caught speeding. Manchester United 2-1 Crystal Palace.

Arsenal were victorious. Another red card for the Blues. Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea.

Midweek Premier League Results

The results from midweek included a dramatic last-minute winner from Will Osula that gave Newcastle an important win.

AFC Bournemouth 0 v 0 Brentford
Everton 2 v 0 Burnley
Leeds United 0 v 1 Sunderland
Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 v 1 Liverpool
Aston Villa 1 v 4 Chelsea
Brighton & Hove Albion 0 v 1 Arsenal
Fulham 0 v 1 West Ham United
Manchester City 2 v 2 Nottingham Forest
Newcastle United 2 v 1 Manchester United
Tottenham Hotspur 1 v 3 Crystal Palace

Have Your Say – My Top 5 Flops!

Following on from last week’s article, I have been thinking and have come up with my top five flops of the 2025-2026 Premier League season.

Jamie Gittens

Transfer: Dortmund to Chelsea

Jamie, Jamie, Jamie. Where do we start? We thought he would flourish in the Blues’ attack, but another player seems to have struggled with the physicality of the Premier League. He cost around £50m and has zero Premier League goals.

James Trafford

Transfer: Burnley to Manchester City

In the summer, Newcastle and Manchester City both raced to get his signature, with the player choosing Manchester City. Yet £30m for a goalkeeper who is mostly on the bench is not a good look. In the Premier League he has made only three appearances and conceded four goals.

Anthony Elanga

Transfer: Nottingham Forest to Newcastle United

I do not want to put a Newcastle player on this list, but if I am honest he does deserve to be here. Newcastle paid £55m for him and he probably looks worth about half that fee. Like Jamie Gittens, Elanga has zero Premier League goals.

Xavi Simons

Transfer: RB Leipzig to Tottenham Hotspur

One Premier League goal. Sorry, I cannot believe that is right. One Premier League goal. He cost the best part of £60m but Newcastle defender Malick Thiaw has more goals than him.

Alexander Isak

Transfer: Newcastle to Liverpool

Where do I start? Alexander Isak broke the British transfer record with a £130m move. Yet he has two goals in ten games.

It has not really worked out for him at Liverpool so far and the team looks better with Ekitike up front. His decision to go on strike means he went from being seen as a Newcastle legend to a rat.

Honourable Mentions

Florian Wirtz. Not worth the price tag but played well in the last couple of games.

Harvey Elliott. Not the worst, which is why he is not on the list, but he has done very little.

Let me know your Top Flop in the comments. I look forward to hearing from you.

That’s all for this week’s football round-up. See you soon for more results, highlights and stories from the world of football.

Great article. I think that’s a bit harsh on Trafford but it certainly hasn’t gone how he expected to.

For my flop – I would simply go for Tottenham Hotspur FC

Got to be Isak! All that money and hype for not a lot.

Great article Jasper. Hard to disagree with your top 5 flops! But let’s hope Elanga can turn it around soon. Unfortunately, Wissa might need to get a mention too 😕
