Romford MP Warns Government’s Digital ID “Could Control Your Life”
The Member of Parliament for Romford-Andrew Rosindell MP, has issued a strong New Year message warning against proposed government plans to introduce a digital ID system.
‘It presents a frightening prospect of the government being able to control our lives and monitor what we do”, he told the Havering Daily.
Many residents across Havering have already voiced their opposition to the scheme, and Mr Rosindell has spoken out forcefully on the matter. He said, “Our ancient English and British freedoms are to be cherished and defended, which is why a state imposed digital ID system must be stopped. It presents a frightening prospect of the government being able to control our lives and monitor what we do. It won’t solve the problem of illegal immigration, but it will make the lives of law abiding British people less free and give even more power over us by faceless bureaucrats or worse, some kind of AI robot making decisions that effect our daily lives. It cannot be allowed to happen. As Romford’s MP, I will be opposing Labour’s authoritarian ideology and fight to protect the rights and liberties of the British people.”
Mr Rosindell emphasised that the plan is not only unnecessary but also a threat to personal freedoms, calling on residents and politicians alike to oppose the proposed system. He reiterated his commitment to defending the liberties of British people against what he described as an authoritarian approach by the Labour Party.
Residents in Romford and across Havering have welcomed Mr Rosindell’s clear stance, highlighting concerns that the scheme could impact everyday freedoms while offering little solution to the challenges it claims to address.
This statement from Mr Rosindell sets the tone for his fight on behalf of Havering residents as debates on digital ID proposals continue into 2026.
