Mind in Havering, Barking and Dagenham has launched a brand-new programme dedicated to supporting the local Armed Forces community. With more than 5000 veterans and service families living in Havering, this project aims to reach out, connect and offer practical, meaningful help.

The team will be running monthly drop ins at the Hope Café in Romford on the third Thursday of each month, with the first session taking place on 18 December from 11am to 1pm. Anyone from the Armed Forces community is welcome to come along for advice and guidance on benefits, housing, mental health, employment and a wide range of other support needs. A drop in for Barking and Dagenham residents will also be confirmed soon.

Alongside this, Mind is offering a six week wellbeing programme designed to help veterans and their families look after their mental health. The sessions cover coping strategies, relationships and better sleep, helping people build practical tools they can use every day.

Will and Sinead, who lead the project, will also be organising family events to bring people together and offer safe, friendly spaces for the whole family to enjoy.

Anyone who wants to find out more or get involved can reach the team directly at armedforces.communityteam@haveringmind.org.uk or call 07345 703994.
