Upminster Resident Whose Car Broke Down and Was Slapped With Parking Ticket Has Appeal Denied.

The Havering Daily recently reported on an Upminster woman who was left furious after being slapped with a parking ticket on St Mary’s Lane despite her car being clearly broken down has now had her appeal denied. She had been stranded in the cold while waiting for the AA to tow her car after a dead battery left her vehicle completely immobilised.

The resident sent in a full appeal, including photographs and an email from the AA proving her car had broken down and needed to be towed home. Yet the council has insisted she must pay the fine, saying it could only be overturned if she provides receipts for new parts or further breakdown services.

The resident told the Havering Daily, “We clearly sent proof from the AA that we had broken down and had to be towed home. The warden could see my car had broken down. We sent photographs and AA emails alongside our appeal.”

She is now not only angry but baffled by the council’s response. “I do not understand this letter, it is very misleading. What do we do now, have to take time off work and go to court? Or have to pay that large amount of money before Christmas?”
