Havering Council Launches ‘Christmas Means Community’ Campaign.
Havering Council is announcing the launch of its “Christmas Means Community” campaign, running from 1 to 24 December.
This initiative aims to bring residents together through a series of festive, inclusive activities that celebrate diversity, promote wellbeing, and strengthen tenant engagement.
The campaign will feature key engagement events, hosted by the Housing Engagement Team and partners, throughout December, including:
- Christmas Toy Appeal to support children in Queen’s Hospital over Christmas. Gifts can be donated to the mobile unit van located in Town Hall car park, Main Road, Romford, RM1 3BD, between 12-1pm on 1, 10 and 15 December.
- An Isolation Event for elderly Council tenants, ensuring everyone feels connected.
- Christmas Quiz for sheltered accommodation tenants.
- A Health Roadshow at Brunswick Court with winter wellbeing tips and warm packs.
- Sharing tips for energy saving and winter safety.
- Christmas Party for hostel residents – “Let’s celebrate together!” and other local events such as tea dances, quizzes, and creative workshops.
- A football tournament working with the Police and West Ham Foundation for young people.
Residents will also be encouraged to join in by submitting recipes, sharing cultural traditions, and contributing to a community holiday playlist.
The campaign will run across the Living in Havering email newsletter, social media, the Council website, and local media, using the hashtag #ChristmasMeansCommunity.
Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, said:
“Christmas is a time for warmth, generosity, and togetherness.
“Through this campaign and the vital work that the Housing Engagement Team do with our Council tenants, we want to ensure that we share the true meaning of Christmas in a way that reflects our vibrant and diverse community.
“By coming together, we can make this festive season truly special for everyone.”
