Havering Daily can report that East Area police have executed a series of early-morning raids in Ilford, targeting suspected Class A drug suppliers in a major operation spanning multiple policing teams.

Yesterday, Thursday, 27 November 2025, police carried out a number of dawn raids within the vicinity of Ilford Town Centre, arresting nine individuals believed to be involved in the supply of Class A drugs.

A large-scale operation involving officers from East Area Proactive Teams and Redbridge Safer Neighbourhood Teams, supported by the Territorial Support Group, moved in during the early hours. A number of items were seized including a quantity of what are believed to be Class A drugs, cash and phones. This action follows months of proactive investigation and evidence gathering. The individuals remain in custody while enquiries continue.

The operation forms part of an ongoing partnership effort to increase community safety and drive down crime, with a strong focus on public health and the issues that matter most to those who live, work and attend school in Ilford. The operation is supported by Redbridge Local Authority and the Council Leader.

DCI Jackie Sweeney from East Area Met Police Proactive Team said “Today’s arrests send a clear message: we will not tolerate drug trafficking and the violence and anti-social behaviour it fuels in our communities. This proactive operation is the result of dedicated work by our officers and partners, and it demonstrates our commitment to tackling the root causes of harm. While nine individuals have been arrested, this is not the end of our efforts—further partnership work will continue to ensure our neighbourhoods remain safe and resilient.”

Superintendent Clare McCarthy leading Redbridge Safer Neighbourhood Teams said “These arrests mark an important step, but our work doesn’t stop here. We are committed to driving forward a problem-solving approach that tackles the underlying issues behind crime and anti-social behaviour. By working closely with our partners and police colleagues, we will continue to focus on long-term solutions that improve safety and quality of life for everyone in our community.”
