Romford Fights Back: Highlights from 3-3 Draw with White Ensign
By Mike Woods, Romford Official
Romford 3, White Ensign 3 – Saturday 22nd November 2025 – Essex Senior League
With eighty-eight minutes played, Romford looked to be heading for a sixth home defeat of the season, and even when Lewis Browne scored his first league goal for the club, it seemed no more than a consolation. Three minutes into stoppage time, Browne scored again, and when Boro won a corner five minutes into added time, Rhian Fowler headed the equaliser
As has happened so often this season, Romford conceded an early goal. Ensign’s George Godfrey ran onto a pass played inside Boro full-back Ryan Sammons, and when his effort was cleared for a corner, Reece Latimer rose to head home with only five minutes played.

Romford’s Dhillon Nelson had a shot beaten away by Ensign keeper Charlie Brown after breaking clear on the left, and then Joe Damrell’s shot was just a whisker over the bar after he met Louis Mathias’s cut back before White Ensign doubled their lead after fourteen minutes. Boro struggled to clear a corner, and when a visiting forward went down under a challenge, Emmanuel Sergio stepped up to send Brad Davison the wrong way from the resulting penalty kick.
Flynn Hamilton’s pass found Louis Mathias, whose shot went into the side netting, but it was always Ensign who looked the more likely to score, and only desperate Boro defending prevented a third before half-time.

Ensign extended their advantage after 54 minutes through Henry Hart, who was put through and as Davison came out to meet him, the ex-Boro player lofted the ball over him and into the net.
With Boro unable to make headway going forward and Ensign apparently holding their lead comfortably, there appeared to be only one outcome until Hamilton’s shot was spilled by Charlie Brown, and Lewis Browne nipped in to net the rebound. It seemed too little, too late until, with 93 minutes on the clock, Browne lifted his shot over his near namesake and apparently made Boro’s defeat a little more respectable. Until the 94th minute, that is.

Flynn Hamilton takes on two White Ensign defenders, and Lewis Browne carries the ball back to the centre spot in the rain after scoring the first of his two late goals.
Romford won a corner on the left, and with every Boro player bar the kicker in the White Ensign penalty area, the ball was lofted in, and Rhian Fowler headed home just 28 minutes into his Romford debut to complete the most improbable of comebacks.
