Reform Havering and Redbridge Greater London Assembly Member Keith Prince has slammed Transport for London after it announced yesterday that works at Gallows Corner would now be complete by Spring 2026.

Mr Prince writes:

Local residents and businesses at Gallows Corner are facing yet more delays, leaving the community in limbo and small businesses struggling.

Not only were local businesses and residents told these works would be completed by September this year, but they have also been left waiting for clarity since TfL delayed the completion date for refurbishment in August.

Philip Hyde, Chairman of Reform UK Havering, and I visited local businesses at Gallows Corner, and they told us they have been left in complete limbo by TfL and have been provided with no support or information during this time of immense hardship.

TfL have once again showed complete contempt for the people of Havering and outer London.

At a recent meeting I had with TfL and Essex and Suffolk Water, they committed to announce a new completion date by the end of October which they then said had to be delayed another week and now we are finally told that this fiasco will not end for at least another 5 months.

At that same meeting, they pledged to announce a firm date for Phase One, estimate dates for Phase Two and guesstimate dates for Phase Three, yet again they have failed to be transparent with the people and businesses of Havering.

Residents and business owners deserve better than to be played fast and loose by Transport for London, I will be questioning the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, at the next Mayor’s Question Time on the 20th of November on how this farcical situation has been allowed to play out on his watch.

I won’t stop fighting until we get real answers from TfL and local small businesses get the compensation they deserve.
