“2,800 Local Children Could Wake Up to Nothing This Christmas — Here’s How You Can Help”

Kids Bank HQ has launched its 5th Annual Christmas Appeal, calling on local residents to help provide 2,800 gifts for children from families struggling across Barking & Dagenham, Havering, and Thurrock.

The small but mighty charity has been transforming Christmas mornings for thousands of children over the past five years — and this year, the need is greater than ever.

“We’ve seen a huge increase in families reaching out for help this year,” said a spokesperson for Kids Bank HQ. “Every donation, big or small, helps bring joy to a child who might otherwise have nothing on Christmas morning.”

Each gift donated goes directly to local families who are facing financial hardship, ensuring that every child can experience the magic of Christmas. The charity relies entirely on community generosity and has seen extraordinary support year after year.

“It’s not just about the presents,” the spokesperson added. “It’s about showing families that they’re not alone — that their community cares.”

How to Help

Residents can support the appeal by:

• Donating a new, unwrapped gift suitable for a child or teenager.
• Purchasing a gift from the charity’s Amazon Wishlist.
• Visiting the collection point at Lakeside Shopping Centre, KidEco (Unit 523/524, Brompton Walk, Thurrock RM20 2ZL).

The team will be at Lakeside in the run-up to Christmas, collecting and organising gifts ready for distribution across the three boroughs.

Kids Bank HQ is urging local businesses, schools, and community groups to get involved by hosting gift drives or making group donations.

“Together, we can make sure no child is forgotten this Christmas,” they said.
