Havering Police are stepping up their fight against tool theft with a third major Forensic Tool Marking Event taking place on Tuesday, 4 November, outside MGN Builders in Harold Hill.

The initiative follows two successful events held outside B&Q, where hundreds of tools were marked and vital safety advice shared with tradespeople.

The latest event will run from 7am to 1pm, offering a chance for both Havering and non-Havering trades to protect their tools with free SelectaDNA forensic property marking kits.

South Havering Inspector Connolly, who has been leading on tool thefts, locally and nationally, told the Havering Daily:

“Havering Forensic Tool Marking Event at MGN Builders will be supported by local safer neighbourhood teams from across Romford and Bexley along with Havering Local Authority. Come down from 07:00 till 13:00 and collect your free Selectadna forensic property marking kits and help us prevent tool theft. Havering and non Havering trades welcome. Sponsors include: The Gas Expert, Rhino Trade Insurance, Fix Radio, CT1, Testo, TVL, Stolen Tools UK and Armogard. Sign up to http://www.metengage.co.uk. “

The event brings together local safer neighbourhood teams, Havering Council, and a strong line-up of sponsors and partners, all united in tackling tool theft—a growing issue for tradespeople across London.

By marking tools and engaging directly with the trade community, officers hope to make stolen equipment harder to sell and easier to trace, sending a clear message to criminals that Havering is not an easy target
