Havering Police Dedicated To Tackling Violence Against Women And Girls.
It would be remiss of us not to reflect on the recent murder, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of Agnes at this deeply difficult time.
The tragic incident in Havering serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact that domestic violence can have and the importance of working together to tackle violence against women and girls.
Here in Havering, your local policing teams are fully committed to protecting women and girls and making our borough a safer place for everyone. We work closely with Havering Council, local partners, and the wider community to prevent harm, support victims, and bring offenders to justice.
Across the borough, we deliver a range of proactive initiatives designed to improve safety and build confidence. These include Walk, Talk & Do events where women can share their experiences directly with officers on patrol, crime prevention stalls offering advice and reassurance, hotspot patrols targeting areas of concern and Warm Space sessions providing a safe and welcoming place to engage with our officers.
We are also proud to support the Safe Haven Scheme, delivered in partnership with the London Borough of Havering and the Safer Business Network. The scheme trains shop and business owners to recognise when someone may be in danger or distress and to offer immediate safety and support while police or specialist services are contacted. Safe Haven locations across Havering display the distinctive window sticker, signalling that trained staff inside can provide help if needed. This community-led approach ensures that anyone feeling unsafe has a network of trusted places they can turn to.
But policing alone cannot solve this issue. Tackling violence against women and girls requires the commitment and compassion of the entire community; residents, businesses, schools, and organisations all standing together to challenge harmful behaviours, support survivors, and create a culture where violence and abuse are never tolerated.
Together, we can and will make Havering a safer place for all.
If you ever feel unsafe or need support, please reach out — you are not alone.
