“‘Residents Have Suffered Far Too Long’ – MP Demands Action on Rainham Fires.
Residents of Rainham continue to suffer from the ongoing fires at Launders Lane, and urgent action is needed to bring relief.
Local campaigners and the Council have stressed that the cooperation of the private landowner is crucial to stop the suffering. There is a real prospect of a remediation system that could provide immediate relief for residents — a temporary solution, but one that could give vital respite from the harmful smoke.
Margaret Mullane, Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham, has long been working to tackle this issue and has now added her voice to calls for urgent action. She told The Havering Daily:
“Residents of Rainham have suffered far too long due to the ongoing fires at Launders Lane. We desperately need the landowner to step up so we can implement a remediation system that will protect people’s health. This is not just about convenience — it’s about the safety and wellbeing of local families, and we cannot delay any longer.”
Ms Mullane has consistently campaigned to address these ongoing issues and emphasises that the remediation system must be prioritised immediately to safeguard public health.
