Children and parents at Brady Primary School were full of praise yesterday as the Havering Residents Association (HRA) Rainham team took to the streets to tackle dangerous parking outside the school gates.

Led by Havering’s outstanding Mayor, Councillor Sue Ospreay, the team — including Daniel Beal and Nikki Digby — joined concerned parents in a proactive road safety operation. Wearing their high-vis jackets, the group made their presence felt, reminding drivers not to block crossings or park dangerously near the school entrance.

At least two tickets were handed out, with enforcement officers arriving on scene to support the effort. Shockingly, two drivers were even caught parking on the zig-zag lines of the zebra crossing — one moved on after being spoken to by the formidable Sue, while the other did not.

“Our children’s safety is paramount,” said Councillor Ospreay. “We’ve listened to parents who are rightly worried about poor parking putting young lives at risk. We’ll continue to be here to make sure everyone can get to and from school safely.”

Even the pupils themselves stopped to thank the team for taking action, showing just how strongly the local community feels about keeping the area safe.

The HRA team will continue to monitor the situation outside Brady School throughout the week.
