Romford’s MP Andrew Rosindell has hit out at plans to slash police station hours — warning the move will leave residents vulnerable and criminals unchecked.

Andrew Rosindell, the Member of Parliament for Romford and the Romford Conservative Team, including all 23 candidates standing in next year’s local council elections in Havering, have today voiced strong opposition to the proposed reduction in operating hours at Romford Police Station’s front counter.

Under the new plans, the station’s vital 24-hour service would be cut back to limited hours: 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekends. This change would leave Romford residents without access to in-person police support during the late-night hours when it is often needed most.

Andrew Rosindell MP and the Romford Conservatives are calling on Mayor of London, and Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, to: maintain a fully staffed 24/7 front desk at Romford Police Station; ensure all residents have access to essential policing services at any hour; and to recognise that online or telephone support cannot replace in-person assistance in emergencies.

To support this campaign, the “Save Romford Police Counter” petition will be presented in the House of Commons by Andrew Rosindell MP and sent to the Mayor of London, the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, and Havering Council.

Residents are urged to sign the petition here.
