Hornchurch Man Charged With Murder After Late-Night Crash Turns Deadly In Langdon Hills.
Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the tragic death of a man who was seriously injured in a collision in Langdon Hills last month.
Police were called to Rosecroft Close just before midnight on Friday 26 September after reports that a man and a car had been involved in a collision.
The victim, 28-year-old Michael Ashton, from Langdon Hills, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries but sadly died on Saturday 4 October.
Michael’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers, have paid a heartfelt tribute to him, describing him as:
“The most hardworking, fun, loving and likeable person that anyone could wish to meet. He was dearly loved by his family, his girlfriend, and the endless list of friends he had. He is also very much missed by his workmates at the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham Council.”
“He had the most beautiful aura and lit up every room he entered with his handsome looks, his smile, and his warm personality. He was loved by everyone and had such a kind soul — he didn’t have a bad bone in his body. Michael’s family are devastated and grieving at this traumatic and deeply sad time. They take comfort in knowing how loved he was and how many lives he brightened just by being himself.”
Following the incident, a man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and later released on police bail while enquiries continued.
Detectives from the Serious Crime Directorate have since charged Hayadulla Turkmani, 52, of Langdale Gardens, Hornchurch, with murder.
He has been remanded in custody and was due to appear at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Friday 17 October.
