Sport Report: 30th September – 5th October

Hello, I’m Jasper, bringing you my second sports round-up for The Havering Daily. I didn’t get to attend the Hornchurch match this week, but here’s a full summary of the action both locally and nationally.

Hornchurch 1–1 Horsham

It was another home game for Hornchurch, with a crowd of 881 in attendance. Balanta scored for Hornchurch, while Gibbs’ own goal levelled the match, ending in a draw. Hornchurch remain top of the table on 25 points, three ahead of Weston-super-Mare.

Premier League Summary

Friday 3rd October
Bournemouth 3–1 Fulham
Semenyo continued his excellent form, scoring twice — including a late goal to seal victory for Bournemouth.

Saturday 4th October
Leeds United 1–2 Tottenham Hotspur
Kudus scored and provided an assist for M. Tel, while Okafor found the net for Leeds at Elland Road.

Arsenal 2–0 West Ham United
Former Hammer Declan Rice scored against his old club, with Saka adding a second. Nuno’s side have now suffered one defeat and one draw under his management.

Manchester United 2–0 Sunderland
Mason Mount took his chance and scored, while United’s new goalkeeper Lammens kept a clean sheet on his debut. Sunderland’s early-season form appears to be fading.

Chelsea 2–1 Liverpool
Another disappointing result for Liverpool, who are no longer top of the table. Youngster Estevão grabbed a late winner for Chelsea, while Caicedo earned man of the match after a stunning goal.

Sunday 5th October
Aston Villa 2–1 Burnley
Malen struck twice to delight the Villa fans as their good form continues. Another tough loss for Burnley.

Everton 2–1 Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace were the only unbeaten side in the Premier League until Jack Grealish struck a 93rd-minute winner for Everton.

Newcastle United 2–0 Nottingham Forest
Guimarães led by example with the opener, and Woltamade added a second as Newcastle claimed a comfortable win.

Wolves 1–1 Brighton & Hove Albion
Wolves will be pleased to take a point, while Brighton goalkeeper Verbruggen was unlucky as an own goal denied his side the win.

That’s all for this week’s football round-up — see you next week for more results, highlights, and stories from the world of football!
