St Andrew’s Park in Hornchurch is a much-loved and well-used green space, but for many residents living nearby, it has also become a constant source of frustration. Locals say the park, while popular with families, dog walkers, and runners, is now attracting increasing levels of anti-social behaviour.

Residents have reported groups of youths openly smoking drugs in the park, sitting in parked cars inhaling balloons, and speeding up and down Burnway as they leave the area. The problem, they say, is getting worse and they feel their complaints are going unanswered.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, told The Havering Daily:
“Last week there were youths sitting in a vehicle next to the park openly doing balloons. I reported it to the police, but nothing happened.”

Another local added:
“They often come and smoke cannabis in the park. They sit in the back area or hide behind the trees smoking drugs. It’s very common, most people see them daily.”

Speeding along Burnway also remains a major concern. Last year, a serious collision involving teenagers travelling at high speed saw vehicles smashed into while parked along the road.

Residents say they have repeatedly raised these issues with the authorities, but no lasting action has been taken.
“It is a consistent stream of anti-social behaviour that we are all flagging up, but nothing is being done,” said one resident. “We report it, but the speeding and the drug use continue.”

Locals are now calling for stronger enforcement and a visible police presence to make the park safer for families and visitors and to bring peace back to the neighbourhood.
