Havering Police are once again taking action to support local tradespeople by hosting a second tool marking event outside B&Q at Gallows Corner on Tuesday, 7 October.

The follow-up event comes after the success of the first tool marking session held in the summer, which proved hugely popular. The initiative has been driven by Inspector Connolly, South Havering Inspector, who has been leading efforts to recover stolen tools not just in London but also supporting forces across the country. His work has already led to the recovery of hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of stolen equipment.

The event is being backed by Havering Council, Rhino Trade Insurance, On the Tools, Fix Radio, Testo, The Gas Expert, B&Q, Timmy, and TVL Security.

On the day, residents and tradespeople will have the chance to get their tools marked for free using SelectaDNA, helping to deter theft and improve the chances of recovery if tools are stolen.

Attendees are asked to bring proof of residence. All trades are welcome.

Inspector Connolly told the Havering Daily:

“On Tuesday the 7th of October 2025 from 7am until 2pm at B&Q car park Gallows Corner in conjunction with Havering Local Authority and a section of the finest partners from across the UK. Havering trades have a unique opportunity to come and get your tools marked for FREE with SelectaDNA anti-theft tool marking kits. Please bring proof of residence to grab your free tool marking kit. There will be additional partners on site with a selection of anti-theft items and advice available.  All trades welcome and we will have tool marking kits available for non-Havering trade residents. CT1 , Rhino Trade Insurance, On the Tools, Fix Radio, Testo, The Gas Expert, B&Q trade event,  TVL security, Timmy – Come and say hello”

This marks another fantastic community-focused initiative from local officers, designed to protect livelihoods and strengthen ties between police and residents.
