Residents in Beam Park ward came together on Tuesday 9 September for a free Live Well Havering health and wellbeing event at Mardyke Community Centre. The two-hour session ran from 10am to 12pm and gave people the chance to access a wide range of support in one place.

Visitors were able to take part in free blood pressure checks, speak to a Social Prescriber, get advice on benefits and energy bills, and receive information on both physical and emotional wellbeing. The drop-in format meant residents could come along without the need to book, and many stayed to enjoy the light refreshments and friendly atmosphere.

Carol Baker, from the HRA Beam Park Team, said: “It is fantastic to see so many people making the most of the services on offer. Events like this really do make a difference, giving residents easy access to support they might not otherwise know about.

Cllr Gillian Ford, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Adults and Wellbeing added: “Health and wellbeing are vital for every community, and it was wonderful to see residents engaging with the professionals and volunteers on hand. This event showed how bringing services directly to people helps break down barriers and ensures everyone feels supported. I would like to thank our partners for making a real difference in the way we reach out and support the needs of residents

The event follows Havering Council’s commitment to improving access to local health and wellbeing services. With a strong turnout and positive feedback, organisers say more community sessions are expected in the months ahead.
