Ending The Misery Of Noise And Environmental Nuisance For Rainham Residents

Margaret Mullane MP, the Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham, has stepped in to support local residents who have endured noise and other nuisances from events at Berwick Manor Hotel.Long suffering households in the Upminster Road North area called on the Dagenham and Rainham MP, to help them get Havering Council to act to control the persistent problems of noise, anti social behaviour and illegal and dangerous parking at the venue.

Margaret has also been in contact with the police on reports of offences and anti social behaviour connected to gatherings at the hotel.

Events, especially at weekends, going late into the night have caused nuisance and disruption to the area. Residents had made numerous complaints to the Council but felt that their calls were not being addressed.

Margaret told the Havering Daily: “I have brought these issues to the attention of the Council’s Chief Executive because local residents believed that their enquiries were getting nowhere. There have been numerous reports of anti social behaviour and other potential offences that I have brought to the attention of the police.

The nuisances have gone on for far too long and action is needed. I understand that a marquee had been erected in breach of planning rules, so I have asked the Council to get to grips with that. I also want the Environmental Health team to step up their involvement to control the level of noise nuisance.

Families in the area are at their wits end with this situation and I expect the Council to now do what needs to be done to stop the nuisances. I am arranging a meeting for the residents over the next weeks.”
