Rainham Labour Pleased That Residents Concerns Around Noise Listened To As Councillors Object To Ugandan Festival.
Rainham Labour are pleased to see that resident’s concerns around noise and disorder have been listened to after Havering’s Licensing Committee rejected an application for thousands of people to descend on Damyns Hall Airfield at short notice for a music festival.
“Following from a public meeting where residents voiced their anger at councillor’s inaction over events at the Berwick Manor Hotel, it’s good to hear that concerns raised formally by the police, and shared by residents, have prevailed with regards to this event,” Sue Watson told the Havering Daily.
Residents have been suffering noise and other anti-social behaviour from attendees at events held at Berwick Manor all summer, and were aghast to hear that the event, having been turned away by another local authority, was seeking to relocate to Rainham at short notice.
“We welcome properly run events that benefit the local economy and offer entertainment for people,” said Fay Hough, “but not at the expense of the quality of life of those living nearby. Havering needs to work with venues to make it clear what is acceptable, not just for one-off events but also established venues.”
Rainham Labour will be continuing to assist residents affected by events at Berwick Manor Hotel to have their concerns heard.
