Construction of the Family Welcome Centre in Harold Hill is progressing well, marking another milestone in Havering’s commitment to support vulnerable people and families.

Over the past month, the project has met several key milestones including the completion of the main structural frame and commencement of roof installation.

Work is also well underway on the external brickwork and internal partitioning, with services installation starting across several floors. The contractor remains on programme, with steady progress across all areas of the build.

Councillors Paul McGeary, Graham Williamson joined the Leader of the Council, Councillor Ray Morgon, and council officers to visit the site to review the progress that is being made.

The centre, scheduled to open in late Spring 2026, will provide emergency accommodation for families, with 74 self-contained dwellings of various sizes, including larger dwellings for bigger families.

Designed as a U-shaped building, it will include a landscaped central courtyard, play areas for children, and shared recreational and support spaces to foster a secure and welcoming environment.

Councillor Ray Morgon said:

“It’s inspiring to see the progress being made. This centre will be a cornerstone in our efforts to provide safe accommodation for Havering families in need.”

The Family Welcome Centre is the first phase of the Harold Hill Town Centre Masterplan, which also includes regeneration projects at Chippenham Road (phase two) and Farnham & Hilldene (phase three).
