Marshalls And Rise Park Conservative Action Team’s Campaign to Stop Dunton Road HMO Successful.
The Marshalls and Rise Park Conservative Action Team have succeeded in their campaign to stop the planning of another House of Multiple Occupancy, commonly known as an HMO, in Romford.
The team made of Councillor Nisha Patel, Bailey Nash-Gardner and Councillor Robert Benham, ran a strong campaign alongside local residents to intervene in the proposed plans to convert 43 Dunton Road into an HMO.
Following strong opposition from local residents and a dedicated petition organised by the Conservative Action Team, the proposed application has been withdrawn. Concerns raised included increased parking pressures, the impact on community cohesion, and the strain on local services.
Cllr. Robert Benham told the Havering Daily: “This is a fantastic result for the community. Residents made their voices heard, and together we were able to prevent an unsuitable development that would have negatively affected Dunton Road.”
Bailey Nash-Gardner added: “We are proud to have stood alongside residents to protect the character of our area. The overwhelming support for our petition shows just how much local people care about keeping our neighbourhood strong and sustainable.”
Cllr. Nisha Patel commented:”This is a clear example of what can be achieved when representatives and residents work together. We will continue to campaign to protect our community from inappropriate developments.”
The Conservative Action Team have confirmed they will remain vigilant to ensure that future applications respect the needs and wishes of the community.
