Romford MP Andrew Rosindell Opposes Labour Plans To Sell Off Allotments.
Andrew Rosindell M.P., Member of Parliament for Romford, has voiced strong opposition to reported plans by the Labour Government to permit the selling off of allotments across the country to make way for new developments.
Mr. Rosindell described the proposal as “socially and environmentally damaging” and warned that it would have a “hugely detrimental effect” on Havering, which he proudly refers to as a “town and country borough.”
“Allotments offer people a healthy, outdoor activity, improve mental wellbeing, bring neighbours together, and foster a sense of pride and community,” Mr. Rosindell said.
Romford is home to twelve allotment sites, including in Collier Row, Hornchurch, Gidea Park, Ardleigh Green and Romford town centre. Mr. Rosindell has visited many of these sites over the years and praised their contribution to the local community.
He added: “Selling off allotments would be an attack on a tradition that has served local neighbourhoods well for generations. Havering must remain a “town and country borough”, and I will fight to keep it that way!”
Mr. Rosindell is inviting constituents to have their views heard in a survey on his website.
