Carol and Rob Baker, two local Beam Park Residents and members of the Havering Residents Association, have urged housing association Clarion, to trim back a large tree in a children’s play area on Passive Way following concerns from parents.

Carol told the Havering Daily: “Clarion Housing Association must be held to account , to act on a massive overgrown tree situated within a small children’s play area in the Beam Park Ward despite its April Maintenance Schedule it remains untouched and the signs still clearly displayed.

Rob met with a concerned resident and contacted the housing association, followed up with an email highlighting this unacceptable potentially dangerous issue.

He told the Havering Daily: “Summer branch drop (SBD) a phenomenon where healthy looking trees suddenly shed large limbs, often in the summer months. Which can cause serious harm and damage. This large tree flanks a parking area, also the public footpath on the other side of the fence and the adjoining high traffic volumed A1306”.

In response, A Clarion spokesperson told the Havering Daily: “We routinely arrange for these trees to be pruned although there have previously been issues with access due to the parked cars.

“The next scheduled visit by our contractors will be on the August 8.”

The tree in question.
