Romford MP Presents Bill To Guarantee Freedom Pass, Over 60s And Disabled Persons Free Travel Across Greater London And All Areas Where TfL Operate.

The Member of Parliament for Romford-Andrew Rosindell MP yesterday, Monday 21 July presented a Bill for its First Reading in the House, that would guarantee the Freedom Pass, over 60s, and disabled people the right to travel across all greater London and areas where TfL operate.

Mr Rosindell said:

This evening, I presented my “Transport for London (Extension of Concessions) Bill” for its First Reading in the House of Commons supported by 16 MPs from the Greater London and Home Counties region. My Bill, which is supported by His Majesty’s Opposition- the Conservatives, would guarantee the Freedom Pass, Over 60’s and Disabled persons free travel in Greater London and extend it to all council areas where Transport for London services operate.

“So beyond the outdated boundaries of old Greater London, opening up travel concessions that would include a wider region, including Essex TfL stations such as Brentwood and Shenfield (Elizabeth Line) and Chigwell, Loughton and Epping (Central Line) and many other destinations around the Capital. This would mean that whatever changes to local government structures occur in the future, whether Havering or any other borough remains under the Greater London Authority or not, our pensioners freedom to travel would be secured and the threat of losing the Freedom Pass could not happen.

“I encourage more MPs of all political persuasions to add their name in support of my Bill, that will benefit so many pensioners in the London and Home Counties.”
