Karen and Rob Chesney proudly presented the Jodie Chesney Award to Havering College’s Student of the Year on Wednesday 2nd July, as part of the college’s annual celebration.

The award, named in memory of their niece Jodie Chesney, recognises exceptional student achievement and resilience. Jodie Chesney was a 17-year-old girl from Harold Hill in Havering, who tragically lost her life in a senseless and unprovoked knife attack on 1st March 2019.

The Chesneys have attended the event each year to personally present the award and honour Jodie’s legacy.

Also in attendance were the Mayor of Havering, Cllr Sue Ospreay, and Cllr Paul Middleton, showing support for both the students and the values the award represents.

The annual event continues to be a powerful reminder of the impact Jodie’s life has had on the community and the importance of recognising young people striving to make a difference.
