Romford MP Hits Out At Gallows Corner Works-“Despite The Junction Being Closed For Over A Week, There Is No Sign That Any Works Have Actually Begun.”

Earlier this week in the House of Commons, Andrew Rosindell M.P., Member of Parliament for Romford, issued a strong call to the Government to intervene in the ongoing disruption caused by the closure of the Gallows Corner flyover – a vital junction connecting the A12 and A127 in Havering, Essex.

 Speaking during Business Questions, Mr. Rosindell urged the Leader of the House to request that the Secretary of State for Transport – who previously served as Deputy Mayor for Transport in London – press the Mayor of London and Transport for London (TfL) to take immediate action.

“I would like to make the Leader of the House aware of the mayhem, disruption and chaos taking place in Romford at the Gallows Corner flyover junction,” said Mr. Rosindell. “Despite the junction being closed for over a week, there is no sign that any works have actually begun. This is simply unacceptable and is causing severe delays to local businesses throughout Essex and the whole of East London.”

The long-overdue refurbishment of the flyover has already caused significant disruption, yet residents and businesses have seen no visible progress on the ground. 

With reports suggesting the project could extend into September or beyond, Mr. Rosindell has demanded an urgent statement from TfL and the Mayor of London.

In response, the Leader of the House, the Rt Hon. Lucy Powell M.P., acknowledged the frustration and pledged to raise the matter with Ministers:

“I am sure that we have all had that experience of seeing roadwork signs but no work happening, just all the disruption instead. I shall certainly raise that with Ministers for him.”

 Mr. Rosindell concluded his remarks with a clear message: “It’s time to end the disruption in my constituency and get on with the job.”
