Tradespeople in Havering are being invited to a special event this month to help protect their tools from theft, thanks to a joint initiative by the Metropolitan Police, Havering Council, and several partners.

A Free Tool Marking Event will take place on Thursday 17th July from 7am at B&Q, Roneo Corner, Romford RM11 1PY. The event is aimed at all local tradespeople and is designed to help deter tool theft—a growing concern across the industry.

The scheme, backed by SelectaDNA, Havering Council, and Rhino Trade Insurance, provides a free tool marking kit to all attendees. The kits allow tools to be permanently marked with a unique forensic signature that makes stolen items traceable and harder for criminals to sell on.

“It’s a great way to protect your livelihood. Once your tools are marked, it becomes far easier for police to track and recover them if stolen,” said a spokesperson for the event.

Why attend?

  • Receive a FREE tool marking kit
  • Permanently mark your tools with SelectaDNA
  • Deter criminals and reduce theft risk
  • Help police recover stolen equipment
  • It’s quick, easy and free

Supported by Fix Radio, CT1, Rhino Trade Insurance, and On The Tools, this initiative is a must-attend for anyone working in construction, maintenance, or any trade relying on valuable equipment.

For more information, just head down to B&Q Romford on the day and take advantage of this important free service.
