Celebrating Neighbourhood Policing Week In Havering: Building Safer, Stronger Communities Together.
Our Neighbourhood Police officers do a very valuable job on our streets everyday.
Harold Hill Neighbourhood Inspector Patel, today, shares the vital role Safer Neighbourhoods teams do:
Neighbourhood Policing Week offers a valuable opportunity to shine a spotlight on the dedicated work of our Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs) across Havering, as well as reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the key principles that underpin neighbourhood policing: visibility, problem-solving, community engagement, and partnership. Neighbourhood policing is not just about responding to crime, it is about building relationships, listening, and working proactively with our partners to create long-term solutions that make Havering a safer and more cohesive place to live and work.
Throughout the week, our SNT officers have been out across the borough delivering a diverse range of community-focused activities. From school visits and youth engagement initiatives to high-visibility patrols in priority areas, our teams have been actively connecting with residents and local businesses.
Launching Met Engage: Your Voice, Your Priorities. One of our key focus has been the formal launch of Met Engage, a new platform designed to strengthen two-way communication between communities and their local policing teams. Met Engage provides a space where residents can share their concerns, raise local priorities, and contribute to shaping ward-level policing activity.
Whether it’s repeated nuisance behaviour, concerns about safety in a particular location, or ideas for local engagement, Met Engage allows your voice to help guide what matters most in your neighbourhood. These community insights inform the targeted work of your dedicated ward officers, ensuring local policing remains relevant, responsive, and transparent.

Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour Together
As Neighbourhood Policing week has drawn to an end, we continue our efforts into Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week from 30th June, where we will further demonstrate the positive impact of partnership-led policing. Working closely with Havering Council and other agencies, we have closure orders in progress targeting persistent nuisance addresses that are impacting residents’ quality of life. These actions are evidence of our joint determination to take robust action where it is needed most.
We have also planned targeted patrols in ASB hotspots and a number of community roadshows across the borough. Two confirmed dates are Wednesday 2nd July – Harold Hill (CHD) – Location: Farnham Road, time: 1430- 1730 and Friday 4th July – Romford town centre, Location: The Brewery o/s Sainsbury’s. – These events are designed to both engage and educate, providing practical crime prevention advice and helping residents understand the different types of ASB and which agencies are responsible for dealing with each. By sharing knowledge, we empower the public to play an active role in keeping their neighbourhoods safe.
